What is the problem?

Kimonos / Gis are made around the world and can cost a lot of money. No body want to purchase a Gi from the other side of the planet only to find out that it doesn't fit even though they ordered the correct size.

Manufacturers of Gis often use a letter / number system for example "A1" to represent the size of the garment. Each manufacture has a different idea what an A1 is. You could be an A1 in one brand and an A2 in another.

The aim of this website it to create a standard size for each of these letter number names (A1, A1L, A1S) with the hope that manufactures adopt it. However, this process could take a long time or never happen. In the meantime, being able to compare the size of a new Gi to one you already own should provide you with enough info to make a more confident purchase.

For example, you might own an A2L Tatami Gi and think I would really like the one from Battle Gear. They don't do an "L" size. So, do you go up to A3 or stay at A2, is A2 even the same?
